Sales call follow-up: what to send after a demo
Send your sales call follow-up the same day, while the demo is fresh for the buyer. Lead with what they told you, confirm what each side agreed to, and end with one next step and a date. A template is below.
Updated
When to send it
The same day, while the call is fresh for both sides. If you promised something on the call, such as pricing, a case study or an answer from your engineers, send it with the follow-up or say when it is coming.
What to include
Their problem, in their words
One or two lines on what the buyer said they need. It shows you listened and gives them a line to forward to their team.
What you agreed
Each commitment from the call, from both sides, with a date.
What you promised to send
Attach it or link to it. If it is not ready, say when it will be.
One next step
A meeting, a trial or an introduction. Propose a time rather than asking when suits them.
A template you can copy
Replace the parts in brackets. Keep the commitments as a list so they are easy to check later.
Subject: Next steps from today’s call Hi [Name], Thanks for the time today. You said [their main problem, in their words], so here is what we agreed: - [Your company] will [commitment] by [date]. - [Their company] will [commitment] by [date]. I have attached [what you promised to send]. Next step: [meeting or trial] on [day and time]. I have sent an invite; tell me if another time works better. [Your name]
Keep it connected to the call
Keep each follow-up connected to the call it came from. When the buyer replies weeks later, or a colleague picks up the account, the context is still there rather than in one person’s memory.
How Nova handles sales follow-up
Two steps after a sales call are worth taking off your hands: writing the follow-up, and entering the buyer’s details by hand. Nova does both from the call, and the email waits for your approval before it reaches the buyer.
Writes the follow-up from the call
After the call is analysed, Nova prepares the follow-up email in Triage from what was said. You edit it if needed and approve it before it sends.
Sets up the next meeting
If you agreed to meet again, Nova prepares the calendar invite. Invites always ask first.
Adds the buyer to Nova’s CRM
Nova prepares a new contact in its CRM, or an update to the one that already exists (matched by email), with the next step and its date. Approve it and it is saved.
