Nova and Linear: turn what was said on a call into Linear issues
Nova turns what customers say on calls into Linear issues. It picks out bugs, requests and commitments from the call, prepares each issue with the context from the conversation and creates it in Linear once your team approves. Linear stays where engineering works; Nova is the workspace around it that keeps each commitment tied to the call and the customer who asked.

By hand, and with Nova
| Compared on | By hand | With Nova |
|---|---|---|
| Finding the issue | Someone reads the transcript again, or works from memory | Nova picks out bugs, requests and commitments from the call |
| Writing it up | Written from scratch, often without the customer’s words | Prepared with the context from the call |
| Filling in fields | Team, labels, assignee and priority set by hand | Nova fills in team, labels, assignee and priority where it can |
| Avoiding duplicates | A manual search, or a second copy | Nova checks related Linear issues and earlier calls before it proposes a new one |
| Telling the customer | Depends on someone remembering | For issues marked for customer follow-up, Nova prepares the update when the work is complete |
Why it helps
For an engineering team, the useful part of a customer call is not the transcript. It is the issue that lands in Linear with the customer’s words attached, ready for whoever picks it up, and, where the issue is marked for follow-up, the update back to the customer once the work is done.
The approval step
Every issue Nova prepares from a call waits in Triage, where the call’s owner approves, edits or dismisses it. Approval creates the issue in Linear straight away, through that person’s own Linear connection. For eligible kinds of steps, Always allow lets a person skip the review.
After the issue is closed
When a Linear issue is completed, a routine can start from it. And when an issue raised on a call is marked for customer follow-up, Nova watches it and its sub-issues; cancelled work does not count. Once the work is complete, Nova prepares the update to the customer, and the person who approved the original issue confirms the send.
For the wider method, see how to make sure what was agreed on a call gets delivered.
Set it up
Connect Linear
Link your Linear workspace to Nova. Each issue is created through the Linear connection of the person who approves it.
Bring in your calls
Capture calls in the Nova Mac app, or import them from Granola or Fireflies.
Approve the first issue
After a call is analysed, review the proposed issues in Triage and approve the ones you want in Linear.
Frequently asked questions.
Something else on your mind? Talk to the team.
Yes. Nova picks out bugs, requests and commitments from a call and prepares each one as a Linear issue with the call’s context. It is created in Linear once someone approves it.
Nova checks related Linear issues and earlier calls with the same people before it proposes one, so new information can update or link to an existing issue. Your team still reviews each step in Triage.
Read, create and update issues, and comment on them. Nova fills in the team, labels, assignee and priority where it can.
Yes. A completed Linear issue is one of six ways to start a routine, along with a schedule, an analysed call, an accepted Triage step, an event from a connected app and a manual run.
For an issue raised on a call and marked for customer follow-up, yes. Nova prepares the update when the work is complete, and the person who approved the original issue confirms the send.
